Brian DiMaggio Wins Coveted CoreNet Global Atlanta Chapter Scholarship
Brian DiMaggio, a full-time real estate professional with the Doorways Team, based out of Atlanta Communities Real Estate Brokerage in Marietta, Ga., was recently awarded the CoreNet Global Atlanta Chapter’s Annual Scholarship.
This highly competitive $5,000 scholarship is open to undergraduate and graduate students majoring “in a field that will lead to a productive career in the commercial real estate industry,” according to the application. Entry process includes formal application, a minimum GPA, community service and two letters of recommendation from people familiar with the applicant’s achievements. In addition, those making it into the final round, had to undergo a panel interview process which was evenly weighted in importance with the application materials.
DiMaggio, who knew at a very young age real estate was his career choice, became a licensed agent at age 20. He will complete his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration – Real Estate at Georgia State University in early 2018. He has been with his current real estate team, founded by long-time Cobb real estate agent Hugh Gilliam, for more than three years. This November, DiMaggio will already be celebrating four years as a licensed Realtor.
“I realized very quickly that I wanted to be part of a team. The Doorways Team has been tremendous because each person brings so much knowledge in many different areas.”
Hugh Gilliam and Joe Hartley, the real estate partners in the Doorways Team, both sponsored Brian DiMaggio to become a member of the local CoreNet Global chapter, which is considered to be the world’s leading professional association for corporate real estate. They each wrote letters of recommendation for his scholarship application. “We have been so pleased with Brian’s progress and thirst for knowledge in the real estate business,” said Hartley. “It’s clear he has chosen the right profession and will do great things in the future.”
Gilliam and Hartley were both on hand when Brian DiMaggio was presented with the award, a book and the scholarship check at the Atlanta CoreNet chapter’s luncheon portion of Annual ED Forum. More than
250 people were in attendance at the August 17, 2017 event. Speakers included the CFO of Mercedes Benz USA, the Executive Director of Real Estate Development at Georgia Tech University; and retired NBA All-Star basketball player Grant Hill, who is now part-owner of the Atlanta Hawks.

Formerly known as the Gilliam Group and founded by long-time metro Atlanta real estate professional Hugh Gilliam, the name was changed to the Doorways Team at the start of 2017. It better reflects a more welcoming real estate brand. It also aligns more directly with another project Gilliam introduced in 2013 and more formally introduced in 2016, when
Doorways International™ was officially launched at the Asia Pacific Real Estate Congress in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Doorways International™ showcases properties from around the world. A typical issue will include 80-90 properties, with price points of around $1 million to $20 million, in Spain, Italy, France, Panama, Costa Rica, the U.S. Virgin Islands and several U.S. states.
Gilliam belongs to and networks with several international business and real estate groups around the world. He holds active membership in FIABCI-USA International Real Estate Federation and the World Affairs Council Atlanta chapter. He become a Certified International Property Specialists (CIPS) and has access to other CIPS designees from around the world in their database.
Through his work, experience and active memberships, the Doorways Team has created one of today’s strongest international referral networks.
