Atlanta Businessman Takes Part in Asia Pacific Real Estate Congress in Hawaii
Atlanta Communities REALTOR® Hugh Gilliam made the several thousand mile journey in September to Honolulu, Hawaii, to take part in the Asia Pacific Real Estate Congress.
Put on by the FIABCI-USA International Real Estate Federation, the event was attended by real estate professionals from several countries. A Certified International Property Specialist and a Certified International Investment and Immigration Specialist, Realtor Hugh Gilliam is a member of FIABCI.
He is also an active member of the World Affairs Council of Atlanta, the German American Chamber of Commerce, the Korean American Chamber, the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals and the Asian Real Estate Association of America. With a history of making international connections, Hugh Gilliam’s achievements include assisting to create the Cobb International Business Council and leading an economic trade mission to Belgium.
“The world is becoming an increasingly smaller place, thanks to technology and faster travel,” said Gilliam. “The future economic development of Atlanta, especially with having the world’s busiest airport, will be more closely tied to other countries. Attending conferences like this one allow me to network and learn about global trends, including the expanding international real estate market and how its influencing cities around the world.”
The Asia Pacific Real Estate Congress included a welcome reception sponsored by the Honolulu Board of Realtors, an awards dinner sponsored by The Wall Street Journal, panel discussions, and professional updates from Australia, Malaysia, Korea, Japan and others on cross border investment market updates. In addition, attendees received exclusive property tours of a $35 million penthouse for sale in Honolulu and a 60-acre proposed mixed use development with a 20-year build-out, being created by the Howard Hughes Corporation. Attendees also received welcome messages from U.S. Senator Brian Schatz (of Hawaii) and Honolulu Mayor Kirk Caldwell.
While there, Gilliam introduced his international property magazine to the group, a quarterly publication called Doorways International Magazine. It features exclusive properties for sale around the world. The publication is distributed to Certified International Property Specialist designees as well as international luxury real estate professionals and consumers around the globe. Doorways International Magazine (http://www.DoorwaysInternational.com) served as a silver sponsor for the event and was well-received, with numerous agents committing to sending listings and contribute content to the accompanying blog.
